Come and enjoy year-round outdoor fun on 1,700 wooded acres on the state border of western Pennsylvania and New York. The Big Loop Lodge offers beautiful surroundings for cross country skiing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, and mountain biking.
A wealth of history surrounds the Big Loop Lodge. During World War II, it was the site of the National Munitions Company, which produced bombs and ammunition for both the U.S. and British armed forces. The munitions factory provided employment for 1,500 local residents - 95% of whom were women. Eldred WWII Museum, a short drive from the Lodge, relates the stories of the people who worked the production line and makes a fascinating rainy day trip. Sunny days can be spent exploring the trails that meander through the property. Some of them are the original ones ridden by the munition company's mounted guards.
